Why is a proposal email checked twice before it goes?
Once before sending, to confirm every fact in it is still true that day. Once after, to confirm the attachment is really on the sent message. An email that says see attached with nothing attached is worse than a late one.
Before sending
- Read the whole thread.
- Re-check every live fact the same day.
- Refresh any document whose findings have gone stale.
- No empty price boxes and no fill-in lines.
After sending
Open the sent message and confirm the file is listed on it. If it is not, the job is not done and we say so first.
Who does it
The person sending. Tools draft quickly, and a person is responsible for what arrives.
