What does a lead list need before anyone is contacted?
Three checks: the details are real, the address can receive mail, and nobody on the list has already heard from us or asked not to. A list that only looks right is not ready.
Looking right is not the same as being right
An address can have the correct shape and still bounce. We treat those as two separate checks and say which one a list has passed.
The checks
- Is this the right kind of business?
- Has the address been verified to receive mail?
- Is this person already on a client's list or one of ours?
- Have they unsubscribed or asked us to stop?
What we do with a list that fails
It waits. A staged list that has not been verified is reported as staged, never as ready, and nothing is sent to it.
